Director of Learning and Innovation

The Director of Learning Innovation and Strategy provides leadership for enhancing teaching and learning through the identification, evaluation, adoption, and integration of effective educational strategies and innovations into the curriculum. The Senior Director applies research on new and emerging technologies, instructional design theories, and approaches to instructional delivery with the goal of increasing student completion, retention, and graduation rates.

Responsibilities include:

  • Analyze data to assess program status and to inform decisions for online and hybrid learning programs; set appropriate and meaningful goals for program and regularly evaluate the effectiveness of programs and initiatives for financial health and ROI
  • Build consensus among diverse stakeholder groups; drive and collaborate with faculty, staff, and senior leaders to develop innovative online and hybrid programs
  • Conceives pilots and testing with students ensuring each feature or product positively impacts student success.
  • Designs innovative, scalable learning solutions that advance education outcomes
  • Advances the understanding and the development of the student experience, from a product perspective, with those outside of academics
  • Works across stakeholder groups to implement and assess innovative pedagogical theories and instructional initiatives.
  • Facilitates the ongoing evaluation and assessment of course learning outcomes.
  • Through industry connections and research, identify and respond to emerging trends and conduct needs analyses that offer opportunities for new programming and services
  • Directly interface with teams to drive technology management approaches that support rich learning and analytics
  • Through collaboration with stakeholders, implement a strategic plan to profitably grow a portfolio of online and hybrid programs; and to develop and manage budgets and expenditures aligned with growth objectives

Job Requirements

Successful candidates will have: 

  • Understanding of proprietary post-secondary education with at least 8 years’ experience, preferably with exposure to a variety of departments;
  • Proven ability to manage projects and motivate people across departments to achieve goals;
  • Experience with research-based curriculum design and a demonstrated ability to curate and understand the varied studies on effective instruction;
  • Must have experience with the Moodle LMS, but experience in multiple LMS systems is preferred.
  • Knowledge of online instructional coursework design in an asynchronous or hybrid modality;
  • Working understanding of technology and tech trends, especially web, mobile and programming;
  • Demonstrated ability to present to and engage a varied audience.
